Blackberry Sunrise was foaled May 14, 2002 and spent most of her life as a brood mare, until the spring of 2012 when Isabelle and Buster Smith decided that with her beauty and loving disposition, she deserved to learn how to be ridden. Her sire is Southern Sunrise and her dam's sire is Southern Sunrise. Southern Sunrise is the most popular breeding stallion in the history of the Missouri FoxTrotter association. Horses in the Southern Sunrise bloodline are popular because of their gentle disposition, trainability, nice looks and natural foxtrot and Blackberry's papers show she has it top and bottom.

Under the tutelage of the wonderful trainer Rhonda Barrilleaux, Blackberry polished her gaits and learned to be as comfortable in the arena as she is crossing streams and obstacles in basic trailriding. She will get better and better with more riding and attention.

We bought her as a broodmare because she has such strong Southern Sunrise bloodlines, but we have taken on more horses than we can adequately care for. Blackberry is a fine mare, either brood mare or riding horse. Our goal is to find her a home where she will be appreciated as much as she is here.
